Taking time to rest is an act of self care. It might sound counterintuitive but rest days are vital for muscle development, strength gains and overall progression from your workouts.
Workouts stress your body, so your body adapts to compensate for the stress. To adapt, your muscles grow stronger resulting in you being able to increase your workload over time (lifting heavier weights, running longer or faster, etc.) During rest, your body is repairing and growing to allow for all of that to happen.
Regardless of what your goals are, not taking rest can do more harm than good. However, if you still want to move your body try stretching or mobility work, go for a light walk, or do some restorative yoga.
With fitness, more is not always better. Take your rest days. I promise your body will thank you.
